Shell Life (Part 12: The Shell Life Training 12-16Mar07)

Finally! I was enrolled and participated in the well-known training in Shell - 'The Shell Life'! I missed it both in 2005 & 2006 due to late registration - I joined the company in late Q3 of 2005, and was drowned with my project in 2006. The programme is so hot that it will be closed for registration in first quarter of every year due to overwelming responses despite the increase in number of training available in the year - almost one in every month in different region! To realise my goal in 2007, I had to put on my 'kia-su' (Chinese Dialect: Hokkien, mean scared to fail) aura to become one of the early birds - I registered immediately after knowing it was open for registration! Well, it worth the effort (the 'kia-su' spirit)!

It was a lively, fun, fully interacting and tiring training for learning, re-learn, and sharing - not forgeting the networking bit. The course design and content was so intensive and compact to be digested within the 5-day training. There were so much to be learnt, experienced, thought off and shared, which are impossible to be done thoroughly during the programme duration. It was done with the 'best' touch-n-go mechanism by 2 trainers. How I wish we could have more time!!

Am still anticipating for the moment to receive the postcard that I have written to myself during the training - we got to write a message to ourselves in a postcard in one of the session. I can't really remember what I have written, but it will be great to recall and flash back my thoughts and feeling that I had on that day through the card! Not to mention our self-designed T-shirt themed with our name, location, values and role models! It was further decorated with feedback from the group at the back of the shirt in our last session - it was kinda fun writing at the back of other while having other to write on yours, the long 'people-train' is formed! Reading through the words really remind me on what I have gone through during the training, what I have learnt, and who I have met and make friends with (out of so many employees and training out there, we have chosen the same training at the same location, same time)!

I will cherish this part of memory in my Shell Life journey. And most importantly, reflect all the learnt values in my real life.
